It's not what you might think!!!
It has nothing to do with a building.
In fact going into a church doesn't
make a person a Christian any
more than walking into a garage
makes him/her an automobile.
It doesn't even require a preacher,
priest or any kind of holy man to
be present. Joining a church won't
do the job either - neither will
following any rules...
No water or any religious paraphernalia
is needed. One might become a Christian
while stranded in the desert/jungle/ocean.
Here's what our Creator God said in His
Handbook For Living - The Bible - has said:
Four important things to KNOW:
1) For ALL (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics,
Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans,
Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.)
have sinned & fall short of the glory of God.
2) For the wages of above (see #1) are DEATH
(Hell, eternal separation from God, & damnation)
but the Gift (free & at no charge to you) of God
(Creator, Jehovah, & Trinity) is Eternal Life
(Heaven) through (in union with) Jesus Christ
(God, Lord, 2nd Person of The Trinity, Messiah,
Prince of Peace & Savior of the World).
3) For God so greatly loved & dearly prized
the world (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics,
Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans,
Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.)
that He even gave up His only begotten (unique) Son,
that whosoever (anyone, anywhere, anytime - while
still living) believes (trust in, relies on, clings to,
depends completely on) Him shall have eternal
(everlasting) life (heaven).
4) Jesus said: "I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH
& THE LIFE. No one (male/female - American,
Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist, Asian,
Presbyterian, European, Baptist, Brazilian,
Mormons, Methodist, French, etc. ) comes
(arrives) to the Father (with GOD in Heaven)
EXCEPT BY (through) ME (no other name).
This wonderful loving GOD gives you
the choice - - - (Rev. 3:20)
{Please note that church membership,
baptism, doing good things, etc. are
not requirements for becoming a Christian -
however they are great afterwards!!!}
Jesus said, "Wide is the gate and broad
is the road that leads to destruction (Hell,
damnation, eternal punishment), and many
enter through it. But small is the gate and
narrow the road that leads to life (Heaven,
eternal happiness, forever with God), and
only a few find it. --Matthew 7:13-14

ReplyDeleteThe Roman emperor Diocletian, following an edict in 303 A.D.,
failed to stamp the Bible out. The French Revolution could not
crush it with secular philosophy (Rousseau, one of its heroes,
converted to Christianity). The Communists failed to stamp it
out with atheism and political ideology. One might well ask why
this book has been banned, burned, and bludgeoned with such
animosity and scorn. The great Reformation hero John Calvin
responds in this way: "Whenever people slander God's word.
they show they feel within its power, however unwillingly or
reluctantly." - Joe Boot

If you stop believing what your professor told you had to be true
and if you start thinking for yourself you may come to some
conclusions you hadn't expected. You may find the Bible makes
more sense than you thought or were told to think. Allow yourself

be true. Can you believe what you don't understand? You and I
believe everyday what we don't understand unless it comes to
the issue of salvation. - - - Dr. Woodrow Kroll

There is simply no historic foundation for the position that the
Framers intended to build the 'wall of separation' that was
constitutionalized in Everson. The 'wall of separation be-
tween church and state' is a metaphor based on bad history,
a metaphor which has proved useless as a guide to judging.
It should be frankly and explicitly abandoned.

In 1796 the US Supreme Court issued this ruling, "By our form
of government, the Christian religion is the established religion,
and all sects and denominations of Christians are placed on
equal footing." Some 57 years later, after Congress was
petitioned to separate Christian principles from government,
in 1853 the House Judiciary Committee issued their formal
report, including these words: "In this age there is no substitute
for Christianity. This was the religion of the founders of the republic,
and they expected it to be the religion of their dependents. The
great vital, conservative elements in our system is the belief of
our people in the pure doctrines and divine truths of the gospel
of Jesus Christ." - - - Dr. Gerald Beavan

I am trying here to prevent anyone from saying
the really foolish thing that people often say
about Him [Jesus Christ]: "I'm ready to accept
Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't
accept His claim to be God."
That is the one thing we must not say. A man
who was merely a man and said the sort of
things Jesus said would not be a great moral
teacher. He would either be a lunatic -- on a
level with a man who says he is a poached
egg -- or else he would be the Devil of Hell.
You must make your choice. Either this Man
was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman
or something worse ....
You can shut Him up for fool, you can spit
at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can
fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God.
But let us not come up with any patronizing
nonsense about His being a great human
teacher. He has not left that option open
to us. He did not intend to.

Examining Our Laughter
“Laughter,” writes my colleague, Mark Eckel, “is an indication
of ethics. Watching a Jay Leno monologue,” he continues,
“forces us to laugh at the ethical lapses in peoples’ attitudes
and actions.” But, he suggests, we need to monitor our laughter.
There may just be, in his words, “a guide for Christians to explain
when laughter is ethically appropriate and when it is not.”
Everyone who has attended a movie theater has probably had the
experience of listening to a part of the audience laugh at incidents
in the movie which are not funny, things like violence to a particular
individual or cruelty to an animal. Such laughter leaves one chilled.
And it is an indication of our society that such laughter is growing
more frequent. But, before we look to the culture at large, it is much
more important to analyze ruthlessly just what we are laughing at,
particularly on television and in our private conversations with our
friends.
Eckel, quoted earlier, compares the potential difference in our
laughter at two television sitcoms: The Simpsons, a much-written
about sitcom among Christians because of its witty but ironic
portrayal of, in Eckel’s words, “the dark side of human nature,”
and Will and Grace, a program that seeks to make the homosexual
lifestyle and all sexually active characters benign and, therefore,
acceptable. In The Simpsons, Eckel notes, “the inconsistencies
and hypocrisies of all groups and individuals in American culture
are pointed out… using sardonic wit… to mirror shortcomings,
creating a climate for change” through the viewer’s “distress
and unease [at] seeing wrongdoing in both attitude and action.”
In contrast, Will and Grace promotes the acceptance of its characters
and their lifestyles through “self-deprecating” laughter that “cuts
off the rough edges and softens [the viewer’s] attitudes” by making
the characters endearing and “excluding the consequences of [their]
behavior.”
This is very wise analysis, one we must take seriously. T. S. Eliot
said long ago that what entertains us, what we laugh at, may just
affect us more than what we study or labor over because our spirits
and minds are relaxed and receptive. We have turned our mental
security systems off and what amuses may seem somehow too trivial
to harm us. There is no part of our lives that does not, however, belong
to God. We must never bypass our intellects or suspend our critical thinking
ability even in our laughter. Laughter has the power, as in The Simpsons,
to be a cultural commentary that brings understanding and conviction,
and it has the power, as in Will and Grace, to seduce and soothe one into
indifference to dangerous secular trends.
The question is crucial: What are we laughing at and why?
- Dr.Rosalie de Rosset

The Bible claims to be the Word of the only true God. In addition to
historical, archaeological, and scientific proofs, there are numerous
internal proofs. No such evidences exist for other "sacred writings."
The Bible was written during 1,600 years by 40 prophets, most of
whom lived in diverse cultures, at different times in history, yet who
never contradict but complement each other. For the Qur'an, Muslims
must take the word of Muhammad, just as the Book of Mormon rests
solely upon Joseph Smith's word. But every biblical prophet is confirmed
by 39 other prophets. - - Dave Hunt

America free and pure they will make their own spirits

For Christians, the life and death of Jesus are the ultimate
expressions of love, and the supreme demonstrations of
God's mercy, faithfulness, and redemption. Since Christ's
miraculous Resurrection on Easter, more than 2,000 years

wondrous sacrifice and for God's promise of freedom for
the oppressed, healing for the brokenhearted, and salvation.
--President George W. Bush

P U R P O S E of 'Thought & Humor':
But these are written so that you may
believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the
Son of God, and that by believing in
Him you will have life. Jn 20:31
Seek the Lord while He may be found;
call on Him while He is near. Let the
wicked forsake his way and the evil
man his thoughts. Let him turn to the
Lord, and He will have mercy on him,
and to our God, for He will freely
pardon. "For My thoughts are not
your thoughts, neither are your ways
My ways," declares the Lord. "As the
heavens are higher than the earth, so
are My ways higher than your ways
and My thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow come down
from heaven, and do not return to it
without watering the earth and making
it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed
for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is My word that goes out from My
mouth: It will not return to Me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire and
achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
You will go out in joy and be led forth
in peace; the mountains and hills will
burst into song before you, and all the
trees of the field will clap their hands.
Instead of the thornbush will grow the
pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle
will grow. This will be for the Lord's
renown, for an everlasting sign, which
will not be destroyed." Is 55
O Lord, you have searched me and you
know me. You know when I sit and when
I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying
down; you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you know
it completely, O Lord. You hem me in -
behind and before; you have laid your
hand upon me. Such knowledge is too
wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where
can I flee from your presence? If I go up
to the heavens, you are there; if I make
my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide
me and the light become night around
me," even the darkness will not be dark
to you; the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you. For you
created my inmost being; you knit me
together in my mother's womb. I praise
you because I am fearfully and wonderfully
made; your works are wonderful, I know
that full well. My frame was not hidden
from you when I was made in the secret
place. When I was woven together in the
depths of the earth, your eyes saw my
unformed body. All the days ordained
for me were written in your book before
one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts,
O God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would
outnumber the grains of sand. When
I awake, I am still with you. Search me,
O God, and know my heart; test me
and know my anxious thoughts. See
if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Ps 139
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small:
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
- - Isaac Watts
O God, You have taught me from my
youth; And to this day I declare
Your wondrous works. Now also when
I am old and gray headed, O God,
do not forsake me, Until I declare
Your strength to this generation,
Your power to everyone who is to come.
Ps 71

Curiosity About Koran Film Appears Highest in Indonesia
ReplyDeletePatrick Goodenough
(CNSNews.com) - More people in Indonesia than in any other country
have used the Internet's Google search engine to look for a provocative
film linking the Koran to terrorism.
According to Google's own trend-tracking software, the search term
"Fitna" -- the title of the film -- has been entered by a far greater number
of Internet users in Indonesia than anywhere else. The next highest level of
interest came from the Netherlands, home to the controversial lawmaker who
made the film, followed by Malaysia and Denmark. The U.S. ranked ninth.
In an attempt to prevent Indonesians from seeing Geert Wilders' film, the
government has ordered Internet service providers in the country to block
some of the Internet's most popular file-sharing and social networking
sites. The steps have drawn strong criticism.
According to Google's trend tool, Indonesian Web surfers started searching
for Fitna in ever increasing numbers on March 27, the day Wilders posted it
online. The graph climbs to a high point on April 1, the day Jakarta
announced that it would block access to YouTube unless the video-sharing
site removed Fitna.
The search term's popularity then declined somewhat until April 4, when it
began to climb again.
Because the tool's graph runs a few days behind, it's not yet clear what the
effect has been, if any, of this week's moves by Indonesian ISPs to block
YouTube and a handful of others Web sites.
According to Internet World Stats, a leading market researcher, the Internet
has a low level of penetration in Indonesia -- only about 8.5 percent of the
population. With a total population of 234 million, that means about 20
million Indonesians access the Internet.
(By comparison, Internet penetration in the Netherlands is almost 88
percent, but the country's overall population is small. About 14.5 million
people are online.)
An Indonesian student who initiated an online petition urging his government
to reverse the censorship attempts said Friday they were unwarranted and
harmful.
"Indonesia is a democratic country, and websites such as YouTube are
essential for learning as well," said Defrio Nandi, an 11th grade student at
a leading high school on the outskirts of Jakarta.
\ldblquote"I do not open YouTube just for plain entertainment, but for
education purpose as well."
Nandi said he found the government's decision to block the sites "bizarre."
"Rather than moaning to myself about this stupid rule," he decided to launch
an online petition, in the Indonesian language, and posted the link on
several local message boards.
The reaction was startling, he said -- 8,000 signatures in 24 hours. As of
Friday morning, more than 12,400 people had signed up. "I have no idea how
the word spread so quickly."
Indonesia's attempts to ban "Fitna" almost certainly cannot succeed, because
the film has been uploaded onto so many sites across the Web. And -- as some
Indonesian bloggers are advising their compatriots -- using anonymous proxy
servers such as youhide.com can bypass the restrictions anyway, whether
users are looking for Wilders' film or not.
Still, Indonesia's Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) on Thursday
slammed the blocking of the sites, likening it to "destroy[ing] a restaurant
to kill a fly."
The organization's president, Heru Hendratmoko, said the action contravened
a 2002 amendment to Indonesia's constitution that dealt with human rights,
and appealed to ISPs to ignore the government order.
Maintaining freedom of thinking, expression and information was as important
as "efforts to uphold ethics and morality" among Indonesians, he said.
Indonesia, an electoral democracy, is the world's fourth most populous
country, and the biggest in the Islamic world.
Wilders' film intersperses verses from the Koran with images of the
aftermath of terrorist attacks and footage of radical Islamic figures
inciting violence. It has drawn criticism from international organizations
and numerous governments around the world.

Hollow On the Inside -
ReplyDeleteThere is this unforgettable drive above the Hudson River; in fact, the highway just kind of hangs out on Storm King Mountain. It's a few miles north of New York City and as you look down on the Hudson you get this incredible view. Now every time I've been able to catch a glance down there at this view of the Hudson, I have been fascinated with this castle. It sits right in the middle of the river on an island. It's kind of like a Robin Hood type of castle, if you can imagine that. Well, not too long ago my wife and I got to take a cruise along the Hudson River and I could take an extended look at that castle. We went right past it, and our tour guide said, "That's Bannerman Castle." Mr. Bannerman, apparently, was an arms dealer for many, many years, and over many decades there are a lot of very interesting stories about people coming and going for weapons all through the wars and all kinds of things. Then in the 1960s there was a large explosion there on the island. What about the castle? Well, I was surprised to learn the truth about that castle.
Our word for today from the Word of God comes from Matthew chapter 23, beginning at verse 25. But first, I have to tell you that Bannerman Castle according to the tour guide, though it's very impressive on the outside, is hollow now on the inside. Listen to what Jesus says about human Bannerman Castles. "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish but inside they are full of greed and self indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First, clean the inside of the cup and dish, then the outside also will be clean. Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness."
Look at this. Jesus says there are people that look great on the outside, religious on the outside, but they have big problems on the inside. This could be you. I mean it could be true of a marriage, it could be true of a church, an organization, a leader, you and me. You know we live in a world where image and appearance are everything. You know we work on our fitness, and our hair, and our wardrobe, making good comments, making good impressions, looking like we have it all together, but then maybe there's another you. When you're alone, when you're thinking honestly, you can feel that emptiness inside…that hollowness. You can't explain it - you can't deny it! And beneath the image you know the darkness, you know the sin. You know the struggle that's in there. Like one young woman said, "There's a darkness inside me that scares me." Eventually it's going to collapse.
Mickey Mantle said not long before his death, "I filled my emptiness with alcohol." Listen to what Jesus said in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness." Jesus is saying, "Invite me into that inner darkness; invite me into that emptiness. I can fill it." He said later in this chapter in Matthew 23, "How often I have longed to gather your children together, but you were not willing."
Jesus says he's been knocking on the door of your life. Why don't you give the emptiness and the darkness to the One who already knows all about you, who sees past the image, who can forgive that sin, who can clean that darkness, who can let you go free from it? Let it bring you not to depression, but to the cross of Jesus where he died knowing the sin inside of you and wanting to forgive you and set you free. You need to clean it up, not cover it up. Say, Lord, I need a Savior, no more trusting in me. It's all in your hands now.
If this is what you want, if you're ready to fill that hole on the inside with the One who gave you your life and gave His life for you, I'd invite you to come to our website because it's helped a lot of people cross over into Jesus' arms. You can go to yoursforlife.net.
Jesus builds people from the inside out. So, open the door of that empty castle and let Jesus in. He will make you strong inside and you can finally be done with that hollow spot in your heart.
